Take a spooky stroll down Church Street to discover the treats that lay in store - or in stores! From 5-8 PM, on Thursday, October 15, select merchants will be offering special discounts, tasty treats, and prizes for creative Halloween costumes for customers and their four-legged friends. (See below for details.) Participating merchants will also be collecting nonperishable foods (in unopened cans, boxes, or containers; no glass containers, please) that will be donated to local shelters and food pantries. With a twist on trick-or-treating, several shops, are offering “treats for treats” - something special to thank you for your donation of non-perishable foods.

Donated food items will be collected by the Vienna Assembly of God Church for distribution to Food for Others and the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries Food Pantry. Food for Others is Northern Virginia's primary safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes, and for the growing number of working poor who are unable to make ends meet and need to supplement their inadequate food supplies. Food for Others feeds 1,800 families weekly and distributes 1.8 million pounds of food annually. The WFCM Food Pantry serves more than 2,500 different families over the course of a year in the western Fairfax area. They receive, sort, stock, and distribute over $1.2 million worth of food to needy families.
