Submitted by Andrea on February 26, 2010 - 12:14amThe Emerging Filmmaker Series, a film presentation designed to celebrate the works of young, independent filmmakers in Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas, will host its inaugural screening on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Roused by the area’s growing population of young film talent, the Series’ opening will showcase short films from a variety of genres, including drama, comedy, and suspense.
The feature film for the Series’ introduction is Three Blind Mice. Directed by DC – Native and rising filmmaker, Jade Holmes, the short-drama interweaves the troubled lives of three African-American men as they search for opportunity in the Nation’s capital. Produced by TYCOR International Film Company, the film's cast includes actors from popular movies and shows, Two Weeks Notice, Lucky Number Slevin’, Six Degrees, Law & Order, and All My Children.
The Series is free and open to the public and will include a Q&A with the feature film’s director and actors.
WHY: The Emerging Filmmaker Series aims to enrich local audiences with independent films produced, directed, and starring the area’s young and rising talent. Showcasing works that highlight prevailing social issues and topics, the Series will also engage participants in active dialogues with directors and actors and include opportunities for networking.
