Submitted by Andrea on July 13, 2009 - 8:54amIrvine Contemporary is pleased to present two concurrent solo exhibitions to launch our fall 2010 program: Phil Nesmith's Flow, a series of new wet collodion photographs shot on the Louisiana coast after the BP oil spill, and Bruno Perillo's Uniform, new oil paintings that explore the cultural codes for realist genres with human figures in various states of dress and undress.
Phil Nesmith: Flow
September 11 – October 30
Phil Nesmith's Flow is a new series of wet collodion photographs on black glass plates taken on the Gulf coast in Louisiana in June 2010. This is Phil Nesmith's third solo exhibition with Irvine Contemporary.
Bruno Perillo: Uniform: New Paintings
September 11 – October 30
Bruno Perillo's Uniform is a new series of oil paintings that presents the artist's continuing reinterpretations of historical and contemporary realist styles and the genre codes for representations of the male and female figure. This is the artist's second solo exhibition with Irvine Contemporary.
In celebration of the opening of the 2010 fall art season, three of the city’s hottest art destinations will be connected by the ART BUS.
Free Shuttle service will be provided between Logan Circle, U Street, & the H Street/Atlas District, sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.
