POSTPONED: DC Loves Haiti Benefit

The Park at Fourteenth
Submitted by Greg on July 1, 2009 - 5:11pm(Note: Rescheduled from January 30 snowday!)
The world watched in horror as a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on January 12. With a strong and proud history as the world's first independent Black republic, Haiti has also long suffered poverty and did not have the infrastructure to cope with the disaster.
Many of us in DC are wondering how we can help the 3 million people who have been devastated and displaced.
Join Class of Change, GregsListDC, and others for a night together to benefit both the immediate relief efforts and the long-term recovery and re-building.
You will have a choice of donating $10 or more to any or all of 4 nonprofit organizations, and 100% of proceeds will go toward Haitian relief and recovery:
1. Doctors Without Borders
2. Partners in Health
3. World Vision
4. the Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund
Co-Hosted by Class of Change, GregsListDC, AAA-Fund, Asia Heritage Foundation, Asian Pacific Americans for Progress (APAP), Black Youth Vote, DC's Young & Powerful, IDASA, Helping Hands, IMPACT, Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL), NAAAP-DC, the New Latino Movement, DC Film Alliance, Sejong Society, KollaborationDC, William Kellibrew Foundation, Financial IQ (FIQ), The Fourteen, Carribean Professional Network, UNA-NCA YPIC Asia-Pacific Committee, and others being added daily.
Special thanks to media co-hosts Greg O'Neill, Anita Hattiangadi, Andrea Suarez Falken, and Jamie Gulin of GregsListDC, and Teddy Fikre of Brown Condor.
Thanks also to Sidamo Coffee and Tea (www.sidamocoffeeandtea.com) and Curbside Cupcakes (www.curbsidecupcakes.com) for their generous support.
The evening will also include a brief program with key leaders from the local Haitian-American community and who are working to improve life in Haiti.
