This is a unique opportunity to appreciate and support the artwork of
talented artisans. 60 percent of proceeds from any sales go directly back
to the artist and in many cases, support their families' basic needs in
Africa. Additionally, a percentage goes to the non-profit entities to
support their programs.
Enlightened, Inc. is hosting an art show open-house in collaboration with
two notable 501C(3) non-profit organizations - Global Arts Network and Mbari
Institute for Contemporary African Art - showcasing intercultural
understanding of interdependent art. These organizations have dedicated
themselves to collecting, preserving, documenting, and promoting work
pertaining to the art, craft, and culture from each of their respective
parts of the world - Russia and Africa.
Mbari Institute, established in 1995, has showcased over thirty-six solo and
group exhibitions of artists from all over Africa. Mbari Institute's
director - Mimi Wolford - provides exhibition space in Washington, DC and
organizes traveling and single-site exhibitions at museums and universities
throughout the United States - rewarding priceless opportunities for
underprivileged African artists in promoting their work.
Global Arts Network is a DC-based non-profit organization founded by Luba
Taubvurtzel. This organization has planted its foundation on promoting
intercultural understanding and raising public awareness of how
distinguishable, worldwide art is interdependent.
