We are a peace-building non-profit to empower the women most affected by conflict. Starting in Eastern Congo, we finance small loans for women to start their own self-sustaining businesses, empowering them to reclaim their lives and rebuild communities by creating, participating in, and perpetuating networks of peace.
$20 entry = loans to women in the DRC, plus performances, free appetizers, & raffle tickets, at one of the best new cocktail bars in the nation!
About Resolve:
As a grassroots organization, Resolve is equipped to achieve what no ceasefire or foreign aid can: empowering those most affected by war to enrich their communities and build peace from the ground up. Resolve seeks to provide that chance by financing loans to women in conflict areas. These loans, sometimes as small as $40, are meant to give women the capital they need to start businesses, buy materials, and build networks that can weather life in a conflict area. Too often, women are forced to choose between cooperating with militants and starvation for themselves and their families. When they can create their own businesses, they gain a true choice: to participate in an economy that thrives on peace, not war. Once women do not depend on militias or governments to provide for their families and neighbors, they are empowered to start building peace from the ground up. Their resolve is a sustainable solution. Resolve is a microfinance non-profit, rather than a charity or a relief organization. We expect our loans to yield self-sustaining businesses and repayments, allowing us to offer the same opportunities to others. As the businesses become sustainable, women reinvest the profits or use them for their own needs and those of the community, improving the standard of living and promoting stability.
