You’ve heard about DC’s new 5 cent fee on disposable bags—the nation’s
first—with proceeds going to cleanup the Anacostia, one of America’s
most polluted and forgotten rivers. How is it working? And why is this
river worth saving? Join the DC Green Connection and friends to find
out, at this double feature event:(Click on links for more info or see
attached!)

Short Films and Happy Hour Fun!
Saturday, March 27th
Dupont Circle / Logan Circle

2:30-3:30 - Environmental Film Festival shorts

We've selected two short films on the Anacostia River from the DC
Environmental Film Festival. Running March 16-28! Enjoy our VIP
seating at the Carnegie Institute for Science Auditorium (1530 P St.,
NW)

Not a Distant Beast: Explores one lifelong DC resident’s relationship
with this river—which made him a water sportsman and river steward.
(10 min.)

River of Hope: Welcome to Our City, Mr. President: Spotlights the
positive transformation of formerly committed youth seeking to reclaim
their lives and the river. (25 min)

4:00-6:00 - Happy Hour/Discussion at Logan Tavern (1423 P St, across
from Wholefoods)

Next we'll stroll to eco-friendly Logan Tavern, where we'll enjoy
CHEAP happy hour specials ($3, $4, $5 drinks!). Meet likeminded
Washingtonians and special guests from the District Department of
Environment (DDOE), Anacostia Watershed Society (invited) and the DC
Trash Runners.

Learn more about the DC bag fee and actions YOU can take to help clean
up the Anacostia! You'll also hear what makes the Logan Tavern and its
Eat Well DC partners so green friendly. If you can't make it to the
films, you can still enjoy hearing about them at the Happy Hour!

Tickets: $7 DCGC Members, $10 Non-Members*

Special: Our first 25 guests get a free reusable bag, courtesy of DDOE
