Roof Terrace Restaurant and Bar (at The Kennedy Center)
Submitted by Anita on April 16, 2010 - 7:45pmFor Spanish wine enthusiasts and novices alike, the Roof Terrace Restaurant atop the world-famous Kennedy Center is hosting a themed wine tasting reception that will transport them across the world to Spain’s beautiful wine country. On Wednesday, September 29th, the restaurant will launch its monthly wine tasting series with “The Wines of Spain: Featuring the portfolio of renowned importer Jorge Ordonez.” Patrons can expect tastings of Spain’s top notch vintages along with an enticing hors d'oeuvres menu created to complement each wine selection and hints of the traditional flamenco culture. The Roof Terrace will showcase different themed receptions each month and feature wine tastings, cuisine, and entertainment from different areas and topics.
While enjoying the most magnificent view of the Washington, DC skyline, guests will experience a wide variety of Spanish wine specialties. Some highlights include Rias Biaxas, Rioja and Jumilla. Jorge Ordonez has been carefully hand selecting some of the finest produced wines from Spain for over 30 years. This incredible tasting event will feature much desired vintages such as Bodegas Alto Moncayo, Bodegas Borsao, Bodegas Muga, Finca Sandoval, and many more rare tastes.
The Spanish themed reception will also embody the traditional flamenco culture. This individualistic, yet structured Spanish folk art exists in three forms: Cante, the song; Baile, the dance; and Guitarra, guitar playing. To add to the overall experience, Executive Chef Joe Gurner’s Spanish-inspired creations will be served as the perfect accompaniments to the specialty wines being tasted.
The tasting is priced at $40 per person.
Reservations are required and space is limited. To make a reservation, please call (202) 416-8555 or go to http://www.opentable.com/roof-terrace-restaurant-and-bar.
In addition, keep your eyes out for future upcoming wine tastings including Harvest Celebration on Friday, October 22nd; Drink Local: featuring notable wineries in the area on Monday, November 15th; and Champagne & Everything Bubbly on Tuesday, December 7th.
