Head to Georgetown Waterfront Park on Tuesday nights at sunset for Georgetown's second annual FREE outdoor movie series!

Georgetown Sunset Cinema 2016 kicks off on Tuesday, July 5, and runs through August 2.

This summer's lineup features movies filmed in or inspired by our country's beautiful national parks, as this year the National Park Service turns 100! The movies will be shown at the beautiful Georgetown Waterfront Park, a national park managed by the National Park Service. The five-week movie series will make a stop in each decade from the 1960s to the 2000s:

TUESDAY, JULY 5: 1960s
Planet of the Apes (1968) – rated G
National Park: Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona/Utah

TUESDAY, JULY 12: 1970s
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) – rated PG
National Park: Devil’s Tower National Monument and Black Hills National Forest, Wyoming

TUESDAY, JULY 19: 1980s
E.T. the Extraterrestrial (1982) – rated PG
National Park: Redwood National and State Parks, California

TUESDAY, JULY 26: 1990s
Thelma & Louise (1991) – rated R
National Park: Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, Utah

TUESDAY, AUGUST 2: 2000s
Into the Wild (2007) – rated R
National Park: Denali National Park, Alaska


Grab a blanket, bring a picnic and head to the beautiful Georgetown Waterfront Park (at the intersection of W/Water Street and Cecil Pl. NW) to view films with the panoramic backdrop of the sunset, Potomac River and Key Bridge.
