Goodwill “Works” the Runway!

Goodwill of Greater Washington kicked off its 7th annual “Fashion of Goodwill” event at the brand new Marriott Marquis with a stunning and beautifully curated runway and trunk show!  Guests began the night enjoying a cocktail reception filled with delicious food, open bar, and shopping, shopping, shopping the incredible trunk show.  Showcasing fabulous accessories, dresses, and shoes from Goodwill Retail Stores, shoppers even needed multiple intercom prompts that the runway show was ready to begin (when does THAT happen?)!

Once shoppers were lured away from the fab trunk show, it was onto the main event! This year’s show followed the event’s theme and Goodwill mission of, “Let’s Get to Work,” and began by honoring Goodwill Partners of the Year--those businesses that made a significant impact on unemployment and workforce development in the Washington, DC area. 2014 Partners of the Year, Events DC and the Marriott Marquis, accepted their awards and were then joined on the runway by participants of the Marriott Marquis Jobs Training Program . Then, the lights dimmed,  DJ Heather Femia played the beats, and the fashion show kicked off! Flawlessly styled and choreographed by designer/creative consultant, Tu-Anh, models walked the runway in contemporary and vintage work and evening apparel chosen directly from Goodwill donations. After the show, select fashion and accessories from the runway were brought back to the trunk show to wrap up the night with (you guessed it!) more shopping while enjoying some very yummy desserts.

Many of the runway fashions are available for auction, but not for long, so get ‘em before they’re gone!
