Policy, located on the 14th street corridor, is known for its farm fresh, colorful, and creative dishes using seasonal local ingredients. Now, at almost ten years old, it is recreating itself. Policy has completed interior renovations, added bar bites to the menu, and redesigned the weekend brunch. As you enter, you’ll glimpse eye-catching, colorful artwork. Lively music fills the space at the perfect volume to either enjoy quietly or maintain conversation.

The brunch menu has a wide variety of southern-inspired food items, ranging from a biscuit sandwich to BBQ pork sliders. The most popular brunch items are the yuca hash with pickled onion, bell pepper, egg, bacon, and sriracha aioli; and the rock shrimp tacos (three per serving) with sriracha, cabbage slaw, and cilantro. Both dishes are colorful, delicious, and have a spicy “kick.” The short rib grilled cheese with horseradish, clothbound cheddar, and pickled onion is not to be missed! It is served with a small tasty salad. If you are looking for a dish to share alongside another entrée, try the caprese toast on sourdough with sundried tomato paste, tomatoes, mozzarella, and balsamic vinaigrette. For those looking for a more traditional brunch entrée, look no further than the Belgium waffle served with seasonal fruit, fresh whipped butter, and maple syrup. Enjoy your brunch with two hours of bottomless bloody Marys and mimosas for just $17.50. These cocktails are light and refreshing and regularly refilled by Policy’s attentive wait staff. Look for the menu items to change periodically, as Policy keeps things fresh and inventive.

The space is designed to host semi-private and private parties for attendees from 20-250 guests throughout the restaurant and the outdoor patio. For a more intimate party, Policy offers a “semi-private sip & celebrate” brunch. This private brunch includes a two-hour brunch of bottomless mimosas and a buffet on the sharply designed and comfortable outdoor patio. The sip and celebrate brunch would be ideal for a birthday party, bridal shower, or baby shower. Policy will be hosting many private events throughout the holiday season, but look for information on GregsListDC about a public New Year’s Eve party soon.

Policy is open Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm - midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 5pm - 3am. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 3:30pm. Its goal is to maintain its reputation as a classic spot on 14th where patrons can have a great time with friends, whether it’s in the lounge over innovative cocktails at night or at weekend brunch. Policy was one of the original restaurants on the 14th street corridor. With its new look and menu, it will surely be around for at least another decade!
