March 30, 2014

Spring has FINALLY sprung in DC and with it comes the fresh flavors of this verdant season. We recently visited Jardenea (its name derives from the French word for garden) and got a first taste of executive chef Nate Lindsay’s new spring menu. The Paleo Diet may be the latest food trend, but Fogo de Chão has been serving up platefuls of paleo fare since 1979. Started by two brothers in Rio Grande do Sul, the restaurant chain (now with over 20 locations across the U.S. as well as eight locations in Brazil) provides guests with an authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience. We recently dined at the DC-area Fogo de Chão location on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Top Chef Alum Spike Mendelsohn is taking over Capitol Hill (or at least a block of it)! Today, he will open his third DC-area restaurant, Béarnaise, in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. The restaurant, which marks his first venture with his sister Micheline, draws its inspiration from both sides of the Atlantic: Canada and France. We recently got a sneak preview of Béarnaise’s space and menu.

We recently sampled the fare in three Talbot towns—Easton, Oxford, and St. Michaels—courtesy of the Talbot County Office of Tourism and were wowed by the wonderful county cuisine.
