The Welders Theatre Company seeks those hungry to create theater. By giving voice to emerging artists and providing a space for exploration, risk-taking, and discovery, we endeavor to facilitate new works, new dialogue, new perspectives, and new thought. We are fully committed to supporting and producing the work of local playwrights. Welders Theatre is a DC-based company that engages the public and the artistic community of our nation’s capital in a greater dialogue on the social and political issues that shape our world. Our work explores global issues on a local stage.

Dai, a farmer’s boy, leaves his fiancé and family behind to become a soldier, and returns home with devastating injuries that have extraordinary consequences. He is unprepared for the world as he finds it, for the secrets, temptations, and changes awaiting his arrival. Set in rural Wales, The Pull of Negative Gravity is a haunting and lyrical examination of one family’s strength and destruction in the aftermath of the war in Iraq.

Join us for a production that The Guardian called “a harrowing, heartbreaking play”
