Hotel Helix Lounge
Kimpton’s Helix Lounge invites Washingtonians to show off their pumpkin carving skills at the lounge’s Tenth Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest!
The lounge will set up carving stations on the outdoor patio and will provide 30 pre-scooped pumpkins as well as safe carving tool kits.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., pumpkins will be distributed to patrons. Pumpkins are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis, so guests should be sure to arrive early.
Participants will have until 8:00 p.m. to carve the pumpkins, at which point the winners will be announced. This year, Helix celebrates living like a local with the “Most Local-Themed Pumpkin” (best politician or a D.C. landmark) which will receive a $50 certificate to Helix Lounge, and the winner of “Most Ghoulish Gourd” (best overall design) will receive a one night weekend stay at Kimpton’s Hotel Helix. The winning pumpkins will be displayed at the lounge until after Halloween.
During the pumpkin carving, patrons can enjoy seasonal drinks including Zombie Gut Punch featuring Smirnoff vodka, triple sec, fresh squeezed blood orange juice, black cherry soda, and a dash of Angostura bitters ($8) and seasonal Samuel Adams OctoberFest drafts ($6). Happy Hour prices will be offered for the duration of the event until 9:00 p.m., including $5 cosmos, $3 Yuengling and Miller Lite drafts and $2 PBR cans.
